Fusion Monster
Fusion Monsters are a type of Monster Card. The first Fusion was released in “Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon”. These are purple Cards which are placed in the Extra Deck.

Properly Special Summoned
To be properly Special Summoned, Fusion Monsters must first be Fusion Summoned. If they leave the Extra Deck without being Fusion Summoned, they cannot be Special Summoned.

Cannot exist in the Hand
Like with other Extra Deck Monsters, Fusion Monsters cannot exist in the Hand or Main Deck. If a Fusion Monster would be moved to the Hand or Main Deck, it is returned to the Extra Deck instead.

Fusion Materials
Most Fusion Monsters have a list of Fusion Materials, which is printed on the first line of the Card's text. These are the Materials used to perform the Summon of that Monster.

Polymerization
Originally, the only way to properly summon a Fusion Monster was through a Fusion Summon involving the required Fusion Materials and the Spell Card "Polymerization". There are now many different ways to Fusion Summon a Fusion Monster and many different Cards that allows the player to Fusion Summon.

Fusion Summon
You can Fusion Summon a Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck by activating a Card or Effect which performs a Fusion Summon. When that Effect resolves, you are sending the appropriate Fusion Materials listed on a Fusion Monster to the Graveyard or you banish them). Now you Summon the Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck to a Main Monster Zone a Link Monster points to, or an Extra Monster Zone. You can choose to Summon it in face-up attack position or face-up defense position.
